About EDA

EDA is a nonprofit public benefit corporation. It is organized under the California Nonprofit public Benefit Corporation Law for public and charitable purposes.

The specific purposes of this corporation are to support, through financial contributions, volunteers, education, public out-reach, or otherwise, the emancipation of one man’s dictatorship; to stop human rights abuses and replace them with equal rights for everyone; to be able to raise funds in cash or in kind to alleviate the suffering of the Eritrean people; to implement action by a democratic system that accommodates the ideas of multiple parties; to implement a national and democratic constitution; to implement a non-partisan and independent justice system; to provide an opportunity for every child to go to school; to implement free market economy; to create an atmosphere of mutual understanding among Eritreans around the world; and to introduce a movement to the US public and NGOs to work and live in peace with neighboring countries and the world community.

The corporation is authorized to conduct its activities in any or all states, districts, territories, and possessions of the United States of America and in foreign countries, and to engage in any other lawful activities permitted under the California Nonprofit Public Benefit Corporation Law.  

Tackling the Realities
EDA is fully committed to.

  1. Provide education and school supplies in refugee camps.
  2. Assist war victims and handicaps with vocational training, sheltering, and living assistance.
  3. Advocate for the right of Eritrean refugees all over the world.
  4. Educate Eritrean culture to children in the (Diaspora) western hemisphere
  5. Provide youngsters with:
  • Tutoring
  • Mentoring
  • Teenage Pregnancy
  • HIV/AIDS awareness

EDA also sponsors

 >  A program called “Distance Parenting” to help children in refugee camps. The objective is to support morally and materially low-income families in refugee camps and to remove the obstacles that keep orphaned children who most need homes and education from getting them.

> Mass media / radio broadcasting program to raise the social and political awareness of the Eritrean public and friends of Eritreans.
